December 12, 2008 - COUNCIL CHRISTMAS PARTY, coordinated by John LaVanway.
Council 12072 held its annual Christmas Party on Friday December 12, 2008. We had approximately 180 guests which included 36 children. The council cooked the meats and provided wine and sodas. Guest brought covered dishes to share. We had a guest Santa who gave out gifts to the children. This was the largest Christmas party we hosted and all had a good time.

December 6, 2008 - CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS SHOPPING SPREE, coordinated by Billy Mares.
Mary Queen of Peace Council 12072 held its annual Children�s Christmas Shopping for needy children of the community at Wal Mart on Hwy 190 in Covington on Saturday December 6, 2008. We had 55 children participate with 25 men, 10 ladies and 2 teenage daughters along with 3 of their friends. Before shopping, children were treated to milk and donuts. Children came from Madisonville Elementary, Lyons Elementary in Covington, and from the Mandeville community.

2008 Youth Expansion Program (YEP)can shake at Wal Mart
Mary Queen of Peace KC held a can shake at Wal Mart on November 14th and 15th to support a state program to fund the many activities the state and councils sponsor for the youth of our communities. Event coordinated by Brophy Boudreaux.

2008 Knights of Columbus District Gumbo cook-off. 2008 Mary Queen of Peace Council 12072 hosted a district Gumbo Cook-off on November 8. Five teams participated, three of which were from Council 12072. One of Council 12072's teams won and advanced to the Area competition, won Area and advanced to the State Cook-off held in Lafayette on January 25, 2009. Pete Scamardo coordinated this event.

2008 Memorial Mass
Mary Queen of Peace Council 12072 had a memorial mass on October 26 to honor our council's deceased members. This mass was well attended by our members and the 4th degree color guard honored us with their presence. Coffee and Donuts were served after mass. Thanks to Harry Ryan, our Church Director, for arranging this mass.

2008 October Fish Fry
Mary Queen of Peace Council 12072 had a fund raiser on October 24 to fund the donation they gave to the Prison Ministry of our parish. This was a Friday Fish Fry which was enjoyed by all. Thanks to Bill Wellemeyer for cooking for this event.

2008 Mentally Disability Fund (MDF) can shake at Wal Mart
Mary Queen of Peace KC held a can shake on October 3rd and 4th at Wal Mart to provide funding for organizations who provide help for the Mentally Disabled. Council 12072 dedicated this years funds to STARC and the Special OLYMPICS. Event coordinated by Rhett Powers.

2nd and 3rd Degree Exemplification
Congratulations to brother Knights, Don Awbrey, Clark Braud, David DeNoux, Jack Dodson, Wayne Kempff, Marion Lyons, Ed Mccraney, Peter Vernaci,and James Senac in making their 2nd and 3rd degrees in Hammond. In all 74 members made their 3rd degree on Sunday October 19, 2008.
And also congratulate Jerry Coogan who made his 3rd degree at St. Rita's in Harahan on October 26, 2008.

2008 Soccer Challenge
Council 12072 had a youth Soccer Challenge at Mary Queen of Peace School on September 25, 2008 with 57 participants. Greg Huguet, our Youth Director, organized this event. On October 25th the Area Soccer Challenge was held at Our Lady of the Lake and Jennifer Fiorella won the 10 year old girl competition. On November 9, Jennifer went to Laffayette for the State Competition and Won 10 year old State Competition.

2008 Keep Mandeville Beautiful cleanup
On September 20, 2008, Council 12072 walked the West Causeway Approach in front of Mary Queen of Peace Church and picked up the litter along this roadway. This was one of our four committed clean-up for the city of Mandeville. John Morton, our Community Director, coordinated this function.

2008 Back to School Shopping
A back to school shopping spree was held at Wal Mart on August 2, 2008, Billy Mares, our Financial Secretary, organized this event.

Knights of Columbus Leadership Seminar (KCLS)
The KCLS meeting was held July 19, 2008 in Prairieville, LA

2008 Quarterly Family Mass
A Knights of Columbus quarterly family mass was held on Sunday July 27, 2008. This was well attended and the 4th degree color guard was present. Coffee and Donuts was served after mass. Harry Ryan, our Church Director, coordinated this mass.

2008 Installation of Officers
