Super Bowl Sunday Gumbo Sale
|
|
On Sunday, February 1, 2009 Knights of
Columbus organized for the first time the Super Bowl Sunday Gumbo
Sale.
"The FOOTBALL. First everyone has to join me in thanking our
brother Knight Leroy Leporte for donating the Saints Autographed
Football. This made our sale even more special and sought after.
Farther Ronnie did the honors of pulling the winning ticket. It went
to Walter Moran. I delivered the prized possession to Mr. Moran
Sunday night. I have attached a photo of the football for those who
may not have had the opportunity to see it."

"First let me thank all who came out to help on Saturday to prepare
this great Gumbo with Steve Fradella. We thank Steve for coming
up with this event and supervising the cooking of his prize winning
gumbo. Super job. It was a long day beginning for some at 10:30 AM and
lasted for some to 7:30 PM." Nick Lonergan |
|
|
"We made 438 pints of Gumbo and all went as planned."

"In addition to our older members, our work force of both days was
comprised of many of our newer members and we thank them for stepping in
to contribute their time to our council." Nick Lonergan

|
"Let me also thank those who came and worked the two distribution
locations Sunday morning." Nick Lonergan
|
|
|
"After pre-selling out tickets, we had only a few tickets left to
sell on Sunday morning and we divided them between the two locations.
There were about 75 available tickets Sunday and they all went at the
8:00 mass."
"We regretfully had to turn many away at the other Masses, which disappointed us as well as those who had hoped to purchase their gumbo Sunday. This was such a success I am sure our council will want to do this again." Nick Lonergan

"Lastly please help me give thanks to all our friends and
parishioners who came out to purchase our Gumbo, to Fr Ronnie for
permitting us to have this event and letting us distribute our Gumbo in
Front of church after masses as well as in the cafeteria where coffee
and donuts were being served, and to Brenda D'Antoni and Dr. Jan
Lancaster for publishing this event several times in our parish
communications." Nick Lonergan |
